NHS praises Ufonia's Dora
NHS England names Dora as “no-regret” digital productivity move
2/10/20261 min read
At the NHS England Board meeting of 5 February 2026, Elizabeth O’Mahony — Director General, Finance, NHS England (and Interim Director General, Finance / Chief Financial Officer) — named Ufonia's Dora as one of the “no-regret moves … that we know work” in the context of digital productivity, and went on to say that such interventions should be prioritised. Dora is also cited in the formal NHS England Productivity Plan as an exemplar deployment, with the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust cataract pathway used as the worked example.
Citation in a formal NHS England policy document, on top of the Director General’s spoken endorsement at Board level, is an unusually strong signal of national-policy reach. For Dora — whose patient-facing dialogue has been engineered with input from Newcastle’s conversation-analytic research — it is the highest-tier external validation in the NHS of an applied-linguistics contribution to clinical AI design.
